SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Susquehanna men's soccer fell behind in the first minute and eventually dropped a 2-0 decision against Lycoming in their first Landmark home game of the season on Saturday night.
Lycoming burst out of the gate, scoring 22 seconds into the match and never looked back, adding a second goal in the 64th minute. They outshot the River Hawks 12-8 in the process, including a 9-2 advantage in the first 45 minutes.
Susquehanna had a few opportunities to claw goals back, including two shots on target from both
Max Paczewski and
Angelo Zografos.
Zach Polovitch also added two shots.
Tony Burns continued in goal for the River Hawks, and he made four saves on the night, all coming in the first 45 minutes, including an effort destined for the top corner from Joe Bamfo that he met with a high trailing hand.Â
Paczewski and Zografos both had excellent chances to cut into the deficit, but both players' chances were stopped by Nick Wilke in the Warrior goal.
The River Hawks drop to 2-5-2 on the year, while Lycoming improve to 5-3-3 with the victory. The River Hawks will play next away at Catholic in Washington, D.C. before returning home next weekend for a Landmark showdown with Elizabethtown.
