Men Drop 2-1 Contest at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – Susquehanna men's soccer continued their Landmark Conference season on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Elizabethtown after going down to 10 players for the second game in a row.

The River Hawks started strong with ten shots in the first half but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, with an Elizabethtown goal from Thomas Smith the only one to show for the first half.

The River Hawks came back out strong in the second half with shots from Max Paczewski and Khalil McDonald blocked before John Kuderka had one saved, and in the 53rd minute, they got their reward as a Hayden Swinehart free-kick came off the goalkeeper and fell for Paczewski to tap home the equalizer.

The River Hawks were reduced to ten men in the 61st minute following a straight red card for goalkeeper Tony Burns, who made two saves. He was replaced in between the sticks by Santiago Andino, who also made two saves.

Elizabethtown scored again in the 69th minute to settle the score, with Pedro Vinent taking the chance for the Blue Jays.

The River Hawks outshot the Blue Jays 19-12 in the game, including a game-high six from Tom O'Keefe. The visiting River Hawks committed 8 fouls to the Blue Jays' 12.

With the defeat, the River Hawks fall to 6-4-3 on the year and 1-3 in the Landmark Conference. They travel to Maryland midweek to take on Goucher on Wednesday, then on Saturday, Oct. 19 return home for a meeting with Moravian on homecoming in a special 6:30 p.m. start time.
