Women's Soccer Has a Day in 4-0 Win over Goucher

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer got four goals from four different goalscorers as they beat Goucher 4-0 for their first Landmark Conference win of 2024 on Wednesday night.

The River Hawks got their evening off to the perfect start inside ten minutes through senior Chloe Michaels, who headed home from close range after a corner, with the ball falling to her after an initial shot by Rachel Rinehart was saved. That goal was the only one in the first half, as although the River Hawks took 11 shots in the first 45, they only had the early opener to show for it despite several chances.

In the second half, the River Hawks tallied three times, all by first-time goalscorers this season, en route to their biggest win of the season. Sydney Williams netted the second from a tight angle, putting a shot into the top right after a feed from Ava Billmeyer just after the hour mark in the 62nd minute.

From there, two goals came in quick succession. In the 82nd minute, Kalie Quaglia was played in on the left flank and had a shot parried by the Goucher goalkeeper, with the save falling into the path of Olivia Haines, who tucked it away with precision, firing into the bottom right corner for her first collegiate goal.

Following Michaels' score in the first half, it was the other center-back's turn to join in on the scoring, as Maesie Baker headed in a corner from Olivia St. Amand to make it 4-0 in the 86th minute, with the late goal representing her first as a River Hawk.

Katie Henchy got the start in goal for the River Hawks. She saw four shots, earning her third shutout of the season and making one save. The River Hawks tallied 27 shots courtesy of 13 different players, led by Rinehart's six. Haines, Billmeyer, and Quaglia all contributed with three.

The River Hawks improve to 5-7-2 with the win and 1-3-1 in the Landmark, jumping Goucher in the standings. Their next clash also comes at home, a Landmark meeting with Moravian on Homecoming Weekend.
