SELINSGROVE, PA - The dawn of Susquehanna University's men's swimming and diving season rose in traditional fashion Friday evening with the "Ged" Schweikert Relays as part of Homecoming Weekend. They welcomed Landmark-foe Elizabethtown and Lebanon Valley College for a series of relays to welcome back alumni and honor the legacy of former head coach Schweikert. The men celebrated with six victories on the evening, with
Kaden TenEyck and
Dan Venuti serving on three of them.
TenEyck and Venuti, along with
David Gentile and
Kade Cimakasky, got the ball rolling with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:38.35, with the pair getting their second victory of the day one event later paired with
Bryson Wood to win the 3x50 Yard Backstroke Relay at 1:20.47. The threesome of
Keegan Pence,
Joey Wayne, and
Kenny Smith kept the winning spirit going with a win in the 500 Shotgun Relay (3x166 Yard Freestyle) with a time of 6:36.33. TenEyck, Venuti, Smith, and Wetmore garnered another victory in the 3x50 Yard Butterfly Relay at 1:19.55, while
Eskander Bierman, Gentile, Pence, and Cimakasky claimed the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay at 3:32.48).
The evening also called for mixed relays, which is where the men's last victory came from as Bierman and Pence joined forced with Emma Church and Matilda Klinetob to secure a win in the 800-yard crescendo relay in a series of freestyle stretches to win with a time of 6:44.53. The relays consisted of 50-100-200-200-100-50 yard intervals.
The River Hawks carry on with their season on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they head down to Elizabethtown to rematch the Blue Jays at 2 p.m.
