Women Blank Goucher, Clinch Landmark Tournament Spot

BALTIMORE, MD - Susquehanna University's women's volleyball team made it a brief stop Friday night down at Goucher College, opening their Mid-Atlantic weekend trip with a 3-0 shutout over the Gophers. The River Hawks up their record to 5-3 in the Landmark Conference and 15-11 overall, securing them a spot in the Landmark Tournament for the 17th time dating back to 2007. They continue with their travels down to Washington, D.C. Saturday against Catholic in their Landmark finale, then a neutral non-conference matchup with Christopher Newport.

Susquehanna ran away with all three matches against Goucher, picking up game one, 25-10, before putting the record books on notice with perhaps one of the quickest sets in school history, needing 29 rallies to win set two, 25-4. The third frame proved to be the closest, with the Gophers managing 14 points before the River Hawks called match, 25-14. The maroon and orange finished the day with a .436 hitting percentage, totaling 38 kills and four errors, whereas Goucher had only a -.118 percentage, recording 23 errors over 13 kills.

Sophomores Emma Willow and Stella Robinson led the kill category with five apiece, including two blocks for Willow, while senior Amanda Gore delivered four. Lauren Halsey got the bulk of the set touches, finishing with 18 assists, while senior setter Keira Roach recorded 13 assists. Callie Wince led with three aces, while Regan Kane and Kyndall Mason both had eight digs. Jessica Sack added seven digs on the night, putting her closer to the 1,000 career digs mark with 952.

Following this weekend the River Hawks finish the regular season with a bang hosting their annual River Hawk Classic on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9. They'll play host to William Smith, Rochester, and Stevenson, with each team getting three matches.
