Men's Soccer Suffers Defeat at the Hands of Catholic

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer was held off the scoreboard on Wednesday night, falling 3-0 to reigning Landmark champions Catholic. A hat-trick from Holden Woodings downed the River Hawks.

The Cardinals struck first just before half-time, seeing a 40th-minute chance for Woodings result in the opener not long after Hayden Swinehart beat the Catholic goalkeeper with a shot but could only hit the left post.

The second goal came ten minutes into the second half, when Woodings found the net again. The third goal was scored via a free-kick, coming in the 66th minute.

The River Hawks were also held without a shot on target, with six total shots on the day to Catholic's 14, including four on target. Three of those shots, including an attempted bicycle kick, came courtesy of Tom O'Keefe. Swinehart, Max Paczewski, and Henry McElroy each had a shot. Santiago Andino played all 90 minutes in goal, making one save.

Susquehanna's chances of a comeback were dashed in the 78th minute when a River Hawk was shown the red card for a second yellow card in the 78th minute.

The River Hawks return to action on Saturday, taking on Elizabethtown on the road. They will return home for a clash against Moravian in ten days, as the River Hawks drop to 6-3-3 and 1-2 in the Landmark Conference.
