Game 1: Elizabethtown 12, Susquehanna 1
Susquehanna was unable to break into the hit column in a seven-inning series opener, scoring a run on a Sam Martucci sacrifice fly in the first inning. Three batters out of four left the yard in a four-run fourth for the Blue Jays to put them up 8-1.
Both teams used three pitchers in the game, with Anthony Colucci taking the loss for the River Hawks.
Although the River Hawks drew seven walks in the first four innings, two pickoffs and two double plays meant the River Hawks left just three runners on base.
Game 2: Susquehanna 8, Elizabethtown 0
The River Hawks rebounded nicely in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader, scoring six runs in the sixth and holding Elizabethtown to just two hits.
Michael Mancuso got the scoring going in the second with a sac fly, plating Tyler Hmielewski, before Tony Rossi launched a solo home run in the third to expand the advantage to 2-0.
The floodgates opened in the sixth as the River Hawks batted around, starting with Rossi scoring on a wild pitch after walking. Hmielewski brought home Michael Biuso moments later with a single, then Griffin Shenman, making his first collegiate start, plated two with a single down the right field line.
Sean McCulloch, the ninth batter of the inning, added two more by knocking a base hit up the middle to score Shenman as well as Dylan Heyduk.
Brice Gregory relieved Redmond after five innings and did not surrender a hit, allowing just two baserunners in four innings of work while striking out one. Gregory collected his second save of the season.
Game 3: Elizabethtown 8, Susquehanna 3
Susquehanna dropped the nightcap of the Saturday doubleheader 8-3. They fell behind after four runs came across in the second off pitcher Teagan Duffie, including a three-run home run by Quinten Perilli. AJ Bednar left the yard in the third to expand the lead to 5-0, then Perilli hit a second of the day in the fourth.
The River Hawks were held off the board until the eighth, but put a rally together to plate three runs.
Hmielewski singled home Rossi, then Heyduk knocked an opposite-field double down the left-field line that scored Rocco Scarpitti and Michael Biuso.
Adam Stuck threw a scoreless bottom of the eighth to keep the game alive, but the River Hawks were unable to add in the ninth despite a McCulloch base hit.
The River Hawks move to 9-14 on the season and 5-5 in the Landmark. Their next game comes at Harold Bollinger Field on Tuesday against Penn State Harrisburg before they take on Moravian in a three-game weekend clash.
