Twelve Hawks Score as Men's Lacrosse Dominates Juniata

SELINSGROVE, PA (April 10, 2024) - The Susquehanna University men's lacrosse team dominated the Juniata College Eagles 19-4 Wednesday afternoon, their largest margin of victory this season.

The River Hawks stumbled to start with key contributors such as Sean Yamada, Ted Zaborowski, and Jozef Korpics ruled out before the game. The Eagles scored the first goal a little over two minutes into the game, but the River Hawks responded in a big way scoring five straight goals to finish the first. Jack Gaillard scored two goals while Kieran Thomas, Brennan Lorence, and Connor Aitken each scored one. Matthew Faggioli also dished out two assists in the period.

In the second Susquehanna continued their relentless pressure on both sides of the ball. On offense they outshot Juniata 16-1, and on defense they forced nine turnovers and grabbed 16 ground balls. They only managed three goals in the period but that was enough to increase the lead to 8-1 going into halftime.

Out of the half the River Hawks made it a rout, winning the third period 8-1 while scoring seven in a row over the last 12 minutes. They once again had 16 shots in the period, and players such as Rob McCullough, Ben Polich, and Charlie Haines got on the board. This gave Susquehanna a 16-2 lead going into the fourth.

The fourth was also smooth for the River Hawks as more players got to contribute to the blowout. Javier Lacen scored his first goal of the season and Garrett Howell tallied his first two assists of the year to close out the game and finish the 19-4 win.

Lorence, Gaillard, and Faggioli each led the team with four points. Lorence with four goals, Faggioli with four assists, and Gaillard with two goals and assists. At goalie Augie Granatelli started in place of Korpics and allowed just two goals in 41 minutes, and overall Susquehanna dominated in every statistical category.

With the win Susquehanna moves to 11-2 on the season and 5-0 in the Landmark Conference. Their next game is on the road against Wilkes University on Saturday April 13. The game will start at 1 p.m
