DALLAS, PA (August 30,2024) - The Susquehanna University men's soccer team began their 2024 season with a road win against to Misericordia 4-3 on Friday night.
The River Hawks found themselves down early as the Cougars got their first goal of the contest just under four minutes into the game off a shot from Anthony Yarabinee. Susquehanna answered with a goal 10 minutes later from
Max Paczewski on an
Angelo Zografos assist to make it 1-1 at the 14:48 mark. That score held for the remainder of the first half.
When play resumed, goals were wild as Misericordia quickly got the lead back off a goal from Max Jamieson five minutes into the second half, but Paczewski responded with the halfway point of his hat trick, assisted by
Hayden Swinehart, who would collect the next goal to put SU in front at the 60-minute mark. Just one minute later the Cougars tied the game from Kohen Stiles, but Susquehanna took the lead for good when a well-struck free kick found the inside of the box and the head of Paczewski towards the goal with less than 20 minute remaining and never looked back.
Susquehanna outshot Misericordia 13-11 with nine on goal to six for the Cougars. Paczewski's hat trick led the way while Swinehart had one goal and one assist. Goalie
