Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Dan Graham

Women Halted at Haverford

HAVERFORD, PA – Susquehanna University women's soccer team hit the road for the first time in 2024 Sunday at Haverford in non-conference play. The River Hawks were dealt a 3-0 defeat.

The orange and maroon faced a 1-0 deficit going into halftime when Phoebe Garfield put the Fords on the board in the 12th minute off an assist from Grace Haskell. Susquehanna looked to make it a match again as the team totaled nine shots with five on goal, including a team-best three shots on goal from Nicole Freiler. Any effort to tie the game vanished when Haverford reeled off two goals within a minute and a half, courtesy of Haskell's 58th-minute goal from Garfield and Madeline Dosen's 59th-minute score off a pass from Sophia Miranda.

First-year Katie Henchy presided in goal for the second consecutive match, logging seven saves in 90 minutes of action. Fellow newcomer Gigi Duncan got the start and had one shot on goal, while Catherine Chodnicki had the one other shot on goal. Starters Morgan Stickley and Sydney Williams each had a shot, as well as reserves Ava Billmeyer and Kalie Quaglia.

The River Hawks have their next matchups in Upstate New York, traveling to Oneonta to face Hartwick Saturday and SUNY Oneonta Sunday.
