Women's Soccer Picks Up Well-Rounded Win Over Delaware Valley

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer picked up their fourth win of the season on Saturday, beating Delaware Valley on a day where they got goals from four different players.

Kalie Quaglia opened the scoring with her second tally of the season, finishing a cross from Gigi Duncan in the 21st minute. The assist was Duncan's first as a River Hawk.

The River Hawks had several chances to double their lead, but needed to wait until just before halftime to get it, with the goal coming in the 38th minute when Kim Dalessio took down an attempted clearance by the Aggies' goalkeeper and half-volleying in from close range with the ball striking the crossbar on its way in.

There was a quick two goals for the River Hawks at the start of the second half, scoring in the 49th and 50th minutes. The first of those two came courtesy of Ava Billmeyer, who turned away from a pair of defenders before beating the goalkeeper by firing a shot into the top right corner of the net. The next goal came just 85 seconds later, with Billmeyer turning provider when her through ball found Morgan Stickley, who beat a defender to the ball before placing a first-time effort into the back of the net.

The Aggies pulled a goal back, but it was only a consolation as Jess Williamson scored in the 65th minute.

At the end of the 90 minutes, the shots totaled 18 for Susquehanna and six for Delaware Valley, with each team taking nine and three in each half respectively. DelVal's two goalkeepers made seven saves between them, and Katie Henchy made two saves in between the sticks for the River Hawks. Emma Eberle led the way with three shots, alongside two for Quaglia, Duncan, Billmeyer, and Olivia Haines. Seven other River Hawks took single shots.

The River Hawks improve to 4-3-1 on the season ahead of a clash with No. 11 TCNJ in midweek. Nick Hoover '06's team will return home for a senior day clash with Wilkes on Saturday, September 28th.
