PITTSBURGH, PA - Susquehanna volleyball pocketed another competitive pair of matches Saturday in the early part of their season on day two of the Carnegie Mellon Quad. After a disappointing 3-0 defeat to CMU in Friday's opening match, the River Hawks pounced on a four-set win in their Saturday opener against Mount Union, then were dealt a five-set defeat to Ohio Wesleyan, who won by way of taking sets four and five.

Keira Roach passed the 2,000 career assist milestone. Needing just two more entering the contest, she finished with 22 against the Purple Raiders, then added on a staggering 47 in the five-setter against the Battling Bishops, the second most in a match for her this season, for 2,067 career assists.
The River Hawks opened the affair with Mount Union winning the opening game, 25-22. After a lackluster sophomore set that saw the Purple Raiders win handily, 25-9, they regained their competitive edge with a 25-19 win in set three and closing things out, 25-21, in set four. Susquehanna finished with a .231 attack percentage, including an impressive .410 in the opening set, delivering 17 kills and just one error. They finished with 48 kills and just 14 errors.
Ryan Rorls led with 15 kills and three aces, while adding 17 digs, as
Emily Kowalski hit on 13 kills.
Amanda Gore totaled five total blocks, while
Delaney McCoy was second to Roach with 19 assists.
Jessica Sack led the team with 19 digs, along with adding five assists.
The second match with Ohio Wesleyan carried a similar undertone as Susquehanna won the opening set, 25-19. The Battling Bishops came back to win set two, 25-22, before the River Hawks moved into position to win the match following a 25-23 win in game three. OWU ran off the first seven points of the fourth set to take an early lead, making it stand towards set point at 24-19. Susquehanna attempted a rally with three straight points, but OWU's Grace Cumming locked down the set with a kill to win, 25-22. The River Hawks led 12-10 in set five, but Ohio Wesleyan countered with five straight points to take the match, 15-12. SU finished with a .139 attack percentage by way of 54 kills and 28 errors. OWU, meanwhile, fared with a .217 attack percentage on 62 kills and 23 errors. Gore led Susquehanna with 11 kills, while Kowalski and Rorls each had ten.
Regan Kane served her way to a match-high five aces, with Gore right behind her with four and Roach three. Gore went on to log five total blocks, including two solo. Roach's 47 assists were still second to OWU's Lily Bechina's 51 assists for the contest, while Rorls and Sack each tied for the team lead with 19 digs. Roach added 16 digs of her own.Â
Susquehanna's home opener is just days away as it all begins Saturday, Sept, 28 with a tri-match hosting Buffalo State and Lebanon Valley. The River Hawks play the Bengals at 11 a.m., followed by the Buff State-LVC matchup at 1 p.m. and then the River Hawks taking on the Dutchmen at 3 p.m.
