Women's Soccer Honors Seniors in Landmark Opener

SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer played out a goalless draw with Wilkes University on Saturday afternoon, opening their Landmark Conference season on Senior Day. The game was back-and-forth, but neither team was able to come away with the win.

Susquehanna was held without a shot in the first half, but they held Wilkes to only a pair. In the second half, both teams managed four shots. Katie Henchy logged three saves, getting the start in between the sticks. The four shots for the River Hawks came from Olivia St. Amand, Ava Billmeyer, Chloe Michaels, and Olivia Haines.

Wilkes held a 5-2 advantage on corner kicks, while they committed four fouls to the River Hawks' eight.

Before the game, the River Hawks celebrated their seven seniors, Kayleigh Saboja, Noelle Sorensen, Samantha Kiwak, Catherine Chodnicki, Michaels, Ashley Marchessault, and Haines. Their class has appeared in the postseason the past three years, and will push to make it four out of four in the Landmark Conference, with eight Landmark games still to come.

Susquehanna returns to action next Saturday, when they travel to Lycoming to take on the Warriors. They will return home on October 16th for a Wednesday night meeting with Goucher after a three-game road trip. With the draw, they stay at .500 with a 4-4-2 record.
