SELINSGROVE, PA - It's easy to forget that Susquehanna women's soccer's halftime score Wednesday night at Dickinson was scoreless after both teams combined for six goals in the second half. The River Hawks held a 2-1 lead during the latter period following GIgi Duncan's go-ahead goal in the 56th minute. Despite SU's best efforts, the Red Devils countered with three unanswered goals as Dickinbson took a 4-2 non-conference victory.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Five shots on goal were registered all first half, with four of them from Dickinson and Susquehanna goalie Katie Henchy saving each of them.
- Things picked up almost immediately in the second as both sides recorded 20 shots, including 11 on goal.
- Ava Prisco of Dickinson scored the first goal of the game in the 47th minute, her first of two goals on the night.
- Susquehanna responded just minutes later with two straight scores to take a 2-1 lead. Morgan Stickley offered up the equalizer in the 51st minute, followed by Gigi Duncan just five minutes later on an assist from Stickley off a corner kick.
- The River Hawks' good fortune was equaled by Dickinson in the 63rd minute when Joelle Ma tied the game up again at 2-2.
- Just four minutes later the Red Devils took back the lead when Maddie St. Amand scored on an assist from Bridget Merkel.
- The match would stay that way until the 80th minute after Ava Prisco netted her second goal of the contest and seventh this season to all but wrap up the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Stickley and Ava Billmeyer each recorded three shots of the River Hawks' seven on the night, as well as two shots on goal out of the team's five.
