BETHLEHEM, PA - The Susquehanna women's volleyball team earned their third-straight win after defeating Moravian 3-1 on Saturday. The River Hawks complete their opening Landmark Conference weekend a perfect 2-0 paired with Friday night's four-set win at Wilkes, standing 2-0 in league play entering a busy week upcoming.
How it Went Down
- Set one was neck and neck, with no team gaining too big of a lead to take over the set. With the score at 16-14 in favor of the River Hawks, the Greyhounds scored five straight points to put themselves ahead 19-16.
- This run fueled Moravian to hold on and take set one 25-23 after a late comeback attempt by the River Hawks
- The second set saw Moravian get out to an early 5-1 lead after multiple attack errors from the River Hawks. The two teams would go back and forth until Susquehanna scored four-straight points to take a 20-18 lead. An attack error from the Greyhounds would seal the deal for the River Hawks to take a 25-22 set two win.
- In set three, Susquehanna grabbed an early 7-4 lead after going on a five-point run. The run featured Stella Robinson, Samantha Kline, Addison Dodge, and Mackenzie Cober each getting a kill for the river hawks.
- The two teams would trade runs, with no team going up by more than four points. With the score at 23-23, Robinson's third kill of the set and another costly attack error by Moravian gave Susquehanna a 25-23 win in the third frame and a 2-1 match lead.
- The fourth set saw a team finally blow open a large lead, with Susquehanna leading by as much as 9-3 over Moravian. Moravian would answer back however, eventually tying the score at 13 apiece.
- The River Hawks would gain their composure back, as they managed to rip off multiple three-point runs to seal the deal in the fourth set. A kill from Dodge and three-straight attack errors by the Greyhounds gave the River Hawks a 25-21 win in set four.
Inside the Box Score
- Kyndall Mason led the way for the River Hawks with 14 kills and 12 digs, which were both second-most for the team. Stella Robinson led the way in kills for the River Hawks with 15, and Sami Kline also chipped in with nine kills of her own.
- Jessica Sack continued her amazing defensive season recording 26 digs. Callie Wince also contributed to the defensive effort with 12 digs.
- The River Hawks totaled a team hit percentage of .212 to Moravian's .188. Susquehanna also slightly led in the attacks department with 179 to Moravian's 176. No team won a set by more than 4 points in this match.
