Women's Soccer Makes Aggressive Stand Drawing Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Susquehanna women's soccer traveled up the road Saturday to take on a Lycoming squad that entered the fray at 16-1 overall. An early River Hawks' goal forced the Warriors to play catchup and though they tied the match, SU held firm to hand Lyco its first draw of the year 1-1 in an important late-season Landmark Conference matchup as the orange and maroon look to seal up a conference tournament spot with one game to go at Goucher on Tuesday.

How it Happened:
  • Less than two minutes into the match up, the River Hawks earned a corner kick opportunity.
  • Morgan Stickley received the corner kick, passing the ball over to Maesie Baker, where Baker drove a shot right into the back of the net, putting the River Hawks on top 1-0 less than three minutes into the match.
  • Both teams tallied shot after shot for the remainder of the first half of play, before Lycoming's Ella Magee took a shot with under a minute to play in the first 45, finding the back of the net.
  • The Warriors tallied one last shot in the first half, where Henchy made a diving save to keep the game knotted up at one all heading into the second half of play.
  • Susquehanna tallied eight shots in the second half of play, unable to take the lead back from the Warriors.
  • The River Hawks and Warriors finished their regular season battle ending in a 1-1 tie, with both teams earning a pivotal point in the playoff race.

  • Both teams tallied a total of six shots in the first 45 minutes of play, with SU out shooting the home team in the second half 8-5.
  • Katie Henchy made a total of three saves during the contest, with two clutch saves coming in the first half and one in the second.
