BALTIMORE, MD - The Susquehanna women's soccer team completed their regular season Tuesday night with a 1-nil win at Goucher as sophomore
Kim Dalessio's laser in the first half made all the difference. It also was the lightning bolt that charged the River Hawks into the Landmark Conference Tournament as the fifth seed, where they'll head to fourth-seed Elizabethtown for the opening round on Saturday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- 22' - All the scoring needed came from the foot of Kim Dalessio. She had a clear line in front of the net after a great cross by Liv Baczor from the right side that split the defense. Dalessio's shot on the fly found the top left corner of the net that went past goalie Nia George uncontested.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Tuesday's regular-season finale also marked a Susquehanna reunion as head coach Nick Hoover coached against his former student-athlete and assistant coach Angela Amato '14, who just completed her first season as Goucher's head coach. She was Hoover's assistant coach during the 2022 season and spent the previous two years as an assistant at Marymount University.
- Sophomore goalie Katie Henchy pitched her seventh shutout of the season, making four saves on the night.
- Susquehanna outshot Goucher 24-7 in shots, including 12-4 in shots on goal. The River Hawks also had six corners, while the Gophers had zero. Susquehanna's offense was potent all night despite just the one goal score, even being called offsides seven times.
