SELINSGROVE, PA - The Susquehanna women's volleyball team and first-year head coach
Johnny Powell have a home Landmark Tournament game gifted to them this Tuesday night, welcoming Moravian for a 7 p.m. matchup in the opening round of the Landmark Tournament. The winner goes on to face first-seed Juniata in Huntingdon on Thursday night. The River Hawks secured a 5-4 league record to clinch the four seed for the league tournament, while the Greyhounds matched that conference record for the fifth seed. Susquehanna held the tiebreaker after beating Moravian during the regular season in four sets back on Oct. 11 in Bethlehem.
HOW WE GOT HERE
- Under first-year head coach Johnny Powell, Susquehanna overcame a slow start to the year. Failing to win a set through their first ten matches, the River Hawks used their first games at home to break off, defeating York College of Pa. and Penn State Altoona to get on a roll.
- The River Hawks went 11-10 following the adverse opening ten matches. winning six matches in three sets, four in four, and one five-set victory over Messiah back on Oct. 29.Â
- Senior Jessica Sack built up a satisfying senior campaign with two Landmark Defensive Athlete of the Week selections, while moving up the career record boards for fifth all-time at Susquehanna with 1,636 digs.Â
- Fellow senior Kyndall Mason has worked her way into the Landmark's kills leaderboard, ranking sixth 247 total kills, averaging 2.35 kills per set.Â
- The River Hawks return to the Landmark postseason for the 17th time, having missed the tournament only once since 2007. In all that time this is the first-ever meeting between Susquehanna and Moravian in the Landmark Tournament.Â

- How We Got In: Susquehanna began its Landmark season a perfect 4-0, beating Wilkes, Moravian, Elizabethtown, and Lycoming. After a couple of defeats to fellow Landmark Tournament participants Juniata and Scranton, followed by a five-set defeat to Drew, the team clinched a playoff spot with a sweep of Goucher, then took Catholic to five sets that resulted in the Cardinals winning 3-2.Â
