Gaillard's Record-Breaking Day Launches River Hawks Past Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT, PA - A slew of River Hawks scored on the day with the help of Jack Gaillard's five assists that earned him the school record for career assists in Friday's 21-12 season-opening win over Penn College. Gaillard surpassed Dan St. Ours' (2002-05) previous career assists record of 100 in the win against Penn College of Technology, 21-12, while adding three goals of his own. He now has 103 for his career.

Penn College started the day out hot jumping out to an early lead in the first quarter before the River Hawks found their groove, outshooting the Wildcats 12-10 in the period. Susquehanna held a slight lead entering the second quarter of the season opening matchup, 4-2. Susquehanna dominated the second quarter in all aspects, outscoring the Wildcats 10-1 in the quarter, while outshooting Penn College 17-9. The ground ball battle went in favor of the visiting team as they claimed 14 ground balls compared to the nine of the Wildcats.

The home team kept the scoring in the third quarter close as they scored four compared to SU's five goals. Susquehanna gained some experience for some of the newer players in this quarter as they kept a satisfactory lead heading into the fourth, 19-7.  The final quarter fared well for the River Hawks as they netted two more goals on the day and racked up five saves off of Wildcat shots.
