Men Continue Great Start Vanquishing Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, PA - Susquehanna men's lacrosse continued their hot start and ample scoring Wednesday afternoon visiting Lebanon Valley, defeating the Flying Dutchmen by a 16-8 score. The scoreboard read 10-1 at the half as the River Hawks netted 11 of the first 12 goals of the game, led by another prolific day from Chris Ciccarello with six goals and eight points. Susquehanna is off to its second consecutive 6-1 start with one more non-conference game before opening its Landmark Conference season at Drew Saturday, Mar. 22.

The River Hawks raced out to a 4-0 start, with Ciccarello scoring two of these goals and the other two belonging to Kieran Thomas and Jack Gaillard to lead 4-1 after the first quarter. The team then went on a 6-0 scoring spree in the second quarter to take a hold on the game. Ciccarello again had two goals in this stretch, along with one goal apiece from Brennan Lorence, Thomas, Bryce Young, and Gaillard. Ciccarello opened the second half with his fifth score of the day to lead 11-1 to start the third period. Though LVC got on the board with an Ethan Keenan score to interrupt SU's scoring spree, it turned out to be a slight road bump as Susquehanna carried on with scores from Ciccarello and Lorence to lead 13-2. Lorence tacked on two more goals in a four-goal day for the program's all-time leading career scorer, while Nick Remund, Jimmy Maro, Drew Filipovitz, and Lucas Biddiscombe offered up the last of SU's scoring.

Ciccarello added eight points to his career totals, now with 144 points on 91 goals and 53 assists. Lorence notched his career totals up to 214 points with 172 goals, while Gaillard is up to 210 points with 79 points and 131 assists. Through seven games he has a staggering 33 assists this season, putting him already in striking distance of his school season record of 39 set last season. Goalkeeper Augie Granatelli got the start and the win, totaling up 11 saves on 16 shots faced. Jack Storpian, Will Harcourt and TJ Lynch also shared time in goal, with Storpian and Harcourt each notching on save.

Susquehanna looks for its first 7-1 start since 2015 on the road Saturday at Saint Vincent College with a 1 p.m. start time. It will be their last non-conference game before settling into their Landmark Conference slate, beggining at Drew next Saturday at 1 p.m. and back home against Scranton Wednesday, Mar. 26 at 4 p.m.
