WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Susquehanna men's tennis got off to a swinging start to the spring season Saturday by defeating DeSales 7-0 at the Central Pa. Tennis Center. The River Hawks won two of the three doubles matches and all six singles to spell out the win.
Susquehanna got a doubles win at one from
Logan Rauschenberger and
Tyler Hester, 6-3, followed by DeSales posting a 6-1 victory at three doubles, prompting the two match between SU's
Daniel Murphy and
Owen Miller against Brent Holzman and Zachary Marshall for the deciding point. Murphy and Miller prevailed in a tiebreaking runoff 7-6 (6) to earnt the River Hawks the doubles point.
Miller moved over to his three position at singles, this time taking down his DeSales opponent more handily in Reece Stein by 6-0 and 6-2 scores. Rauschenberger also double dipped with a singles win, topping Jatin Prebhakar in the one spot 7-6 (2) and 6-4. Hester did the same at four singles, taking down Marshall 6-1 and 6-2. Senior
Thomas Hallahan completed a 6-2 and 6-1 rout of Holzman at two singles. Susquehanna's finishing touches came from
Nathan Bassett and
Austin Imhoof at five and six singles, respectively. Bassett took care of Christopher Gomez 6-0 and 6-1, while Imhoof defeated Frank Boffa 6-2 and 6-0.
The River Hawks have a few weeks of downtime still before opening up Landmark Conference play on Saturday, Mar. 22 hosting Moravian.
