MEADVILLE, PA- Susquehanna University women's lacrosse showcased an offensive slew of goals against Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa. The River Hawks scored 20 goals on the day, marking the most goals scored this season for SU. Aerin O'Brien earned two saves on the day, allowing just two goals past her in this offensive shooting spree.
Susquehanna started the day out hot scoring eight goals in the first period, as Aerin O'Brien shut out the Gators through the quarter. Emma Kelleher started the offensive showcase for the River Hawks 16 seconds into the match up, scoring SU's opening goal unassisted. Sophia Trively would tack on the second goal of the day, followed by Abby Andrus being assisted by Kelleher. Liv Owen threw her name into the mix assisting on a goal scored by Allie Kutler, and netting her own unassisted goal. Andrus would score back to back goals for Susquehanna. Waverly Oake-Libow assisted Andrus with her second goal of the opening quarter. Wrapping up the quarter was Nikki Genovese scoring off a pass from Sophia Trively.
Entering the second quarter, leading 8-0, Susquehanna would push their lead to nine as Abby Gearhart put her name on the board scoring on a man-up opportunity, following the pass from Kelleher. Allegheny tacked on their own two goals of the afternoon in the second quarter. The offensive showcase did not slow down following these two Gators goals, as Liv Owen assisted Emma Kelleher and Abby Andrus on the final two scoring opportunities of the half. Susquehanna would sit with a running clock and a 12-2 lead entering the half.
The scoring spectacle overflowed into the third quarter as Kelleher earned her fourth assist of the game, setting up Andrus for yet another SU goal. Allie Kutler also scored this quarter, as well as Kelleher scoring an unassisted point for the River Hawks. Sophie Cole scored her first career goal, pushing the ball past the Gators net minder following a pass from Liv Owen. Susquehanna sat with a dominant 16-2 lead entering the final frame.
Allison Church assisted Kim Nagengast opening the final frame for SU, pushing the insurmountable lead to 15. Kelleher earned an unassisted point for the River Hawks, followed by an unassisted goal from Ruby Calabrese. Wrapping the game up for Susquehanna was Alison Church who scored the eventual game sealing goal. Susquehanna went on to win the game 20-2 in Meadville, Pa.
Susquehanna advances to 2-4 on the season as they have their sights set on Rowan University. Following the offensive spectacle that the River Hawks showcased against Allegheny College, they feel poised and ready to take on the Profs in Glassboro, NJ on March 15.
