WILLIAMSPORT, PA - Susquehanna men's lacrosse unleashed at Lycoming Saturday to get back in the win column by a desicive 15-5 score. Jack Gaillard continued his phenomenal season with a ten-point day on four goals and six assists, growing his school record total to 238 points with 148 assists, while adding another first in Susquehanna history with 50 assists in one season.
Susquehanna started the scoring early, earning the first three of the matchup. Jack Gaillard scored the opening goal for SU following a pass from Steven Musser. No more than a minute later, Brennan Lorence scores, being assisted by Matthew Faggioli. The River Hawks sat with a comfortable 2-0 lead before Musser and Gaillard teamed up for the final score of the opening quarter. The River Hawks sat with a 3-0 lead entering the second frame.
Gaillard added his name to the assist pool early in the second quarter as Chris Ciccarello tacked on the fourth goal for the River Hawks. The Warriors snuck one ball past netminder, Augie Granatelli shortly after the Ciccarello goal. Aidan Kennedy scored an unassisted goal, followed by an unassisted goal by Gaillard. Susquehanna led 6-1 before the Warriors were able to cut into the lead by one. The remaining two minutes of the quarter saw each team net one more point each. The dynamic duo Gaillard and Ciccarello tag teamed a goal for SU. The Warriors added one more to their total with under a minute in the half. The River Hawks led 7-3 at the break.
Susquehanna was shot out of a cannon in the second half of the matchup, shutting out the Warriors, but also adding five goals of their own. Brennan Lorence started the second half scoring off, netting an unassisted point for SU, followed by a Pat McDermott goal, assisted by Gaillard. Gaillard kept the assists coming as he teamed up with Ciccarello to score SU's 11th goal of the afternoon, followed by Faggioli offering another score for a 12-3 lead after three.
The fourth quarter started out with a Lycoming goal, followed by three straight goals from the River Hawks. Drew Filipovits opened this stretch with a goal from a pass by Mason Miller. Jack Gaillard and Chris Ciccarello tacked on the 14th goal for SU. The final goal for the River Hawks from the stick of Pat McDermott. Lycoming added one more goal to end the game 15-5.
The River Hawks move to 2-3 in the Landmark Conference as they continue their quest for another conference tournament berth at Juniata on Wednesday, April 9.
