SUFH Scores Two to Tame Wolves

READING, PA - Susquehanna field hockey earned their first win of the season Tuesday night, defeating Alvernia University 2-1 on the road. All three scores occurred in the second quarter, with Kiara Koeller and Mady Quigley bookending the scores and stifling defense holding strong in the second half to hold down the win. 

How It Happened 

  • Kiara Koeller started the scoring in the second frame, netting the first goal of the game, following an assist off the stick of Lexi Kresge

  • Alvernia's Ava Michael scored the lone goal for Alvernia just minutes after Koeller. 

  • Susquehanna's net minder, Kylie Schmidt, kept the Wolves at bay, shutting down any attempt at an equalizer. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • The River Hawks tallied eight shots during the contest, with four shots on goal. 

  • Kylie Schmidt earned two saves on the afternoon, allowing only one goal. 

  • The River Hawks had five penalty corners in the match up, with both goals coming from a penalty corner.
