SELINSGROVE, PA - Gigi Duncan's penalty-kick goal in the 87th minute pushed the River Hawks past the Mustangs of Stevenson University, 1-0 in a rainy matchup at Sassafras Field Wednesday night. How it Happened:
- A back-and-forth defensive battle between the teams saw no goals scored in the first 45, with the River Hawks outshooting the Mustangs 17-1 in the first half of play.
- Late in the second half, a handball by a Stevenson player in the box call prompted the call by the official that sent Gigi Duncan to the 12-yard mark to calmy drill the game-winning goal to the right side past keeper Isabella Serano. Her heroics provided Duncan with her first career goal.
- The Mustangs' last gasp was a free kick just outside the box with under 30 seconds to play. Marissa Struhar used some deception with the help of her teammates to send a shot to the right post, which sailed just inches wide of the mark.
