Men's Soccer Runs into Marywood on First Road Trip

SCRANTON, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer was on the short end of a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Marywood on Wednesday, as the River Hawks were hit for a goal in each half in their first road game of 2025.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • While Marywood took the first shot of the game, the first save was made by the Pacers' goalkeeper from a shot hit by John Kuderka in the 7th minute.
  • Liam Raney came close to giving Susquehanna the lead in the 11th minute, but headed high from a cross into the penalty area.
  • A quick counter-attack by Marywood led to the opener, with Donnie Powell's cross finding Owen Clearwaters, who struck first in the 19th minute.
  • Henry McElroy tallied a shot on target in the 52nd minute, but was denied an equalizer after heading goalwards.
  • Kuderka nearly caught the goalkeeper off his line from a tight angle moments later, but was denied by the frame of the goal after beating a defender.
  • The Pacers added a second with 20 minutes to play, and were able to keep the River Hawks out in the waning moments.
  • Although Susquehanna managed six of the game's final eight shots while winning three corners following the second goal, they were unable to come up with a response.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Jason Krum earned the start for Susquehanna, and made five saves in his collegiate debut.
  • The River Hawks were outshot 15-13 over the 90 minutes, but held a 9-7 edge in the second period.
  • Susquehanna won ten corners, including seven in the second half, to Marywood's three.
  • Kuderka, McElroy and Alex Clark had the River Hawks' three shots on goal, while Kuderka was joined by Khalil McDonald and Jack McCarthy in taking a pair of shots.
  • Susquehanna made four changes to their starting eleven from the previous contest, with goalkeeper Krum joining outfield players Kuderka, Raney, and Hayes Webster in making their first starts on the year.
