Men's Soccer Picks Up Win at Keystone

LA PLUME, PA - Susquehanna men's soccer traveled to Keystone to play a non-conference road game on Saturday, collecting their first win of 2025 with a 1-0 win over the Giants.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The River Hawks took 11 shots in the first half, with Darin Martin first to let fly in the 8th minute, seeing his effort saved.
  • Khalil McDonald nearly broke the deadlock when he struck the crossbar in the 39th minute.
  • Javier Diaz also had an effort saved in the final moments of the first 45 minutes as the River Hawks went into half-time having had the bulk of the chances, however, they were unable to capitalize on them.
  • Before the River Hawks even had the chance to shoot in the second half, they won a corner that Alex Clark delivered, and the ball eventually found its way through, with a Keystone player putting through his own net.
  • Keystone only took two further shots the rest of the game, while Hayes Webster headed another Clark corner goalwards, but was denied by the Giants' goalkeeper.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • The River Hawks held a 21-4 advantage on the shooting front. They were only able to find the target with three, and the goal came in the 53rd minute last touched by a Keystone player. Martin, Diaz, and Webster each found the target. Jack McCarthy led the team with four shots, captain Josh Higgins attempted three, and Henry McElroy took two while Martin added another attempt to add to the ranks of players to take multiple shots.
  • Finn Kramer started in goal, making one save as he kept the first clean sheet of his Susquehanna career, aided by his defense as the team picked up their first shutout of the year.
  • The River Hawks made four changes from their previous starting eleven, introducing Kramer in goal, while Jim Findlay selected Martin, Clark, and John Destil for their first starts of the year.
