Women Finish in 1-1 Tie with Drew

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Susquehanna University women's soccer team held a 1-nil lead on Drew late Saturday afternoon with Amelia Kopp's 12th-minute score. The River Hawks held that lead for just over 70 minutes before the Rangers tied it in the closing minutes as both sides played to a 1-1 draw to split a Landmark point. 

How It Went Down
  • The River Hawks struck first in the 12th minute when Amelia Kopp scored off an assist from Ava Billmeyer to give Susquehanna a 1-0 lead.
  • Susquehanna carried its advantage into halftime and looked to hold off the Rangers throughout the second half.
  • Drew found the equalizer in the 84th minute when Ella Reyngoudt scored off an assist from Hannah Stahl.
  • Neither team found a game-winning goal in the closing minutes as the two sides settled for a 1-1 draw.
  • Both sides had plenty of scoring chances as Drew held a slight 13-12 edge in shots, including 8-5 in shots on goal. The Rangers also narrowly outshot the River Hawks in the second half, 7-5.

  • Amelia Kopp scored her seventh goal of the season, tying her for the Landmark Conference lead with Lycoming's Ella Magee. 
  • Ava Billmeyer recorded an assist on Susquehanna's opening goal, giving her four on the year to tie her for the Landmark lead with teammate Liv Baczor, Scranton's Alexis Ocasio and Juniata's Gracie French. 
  • Susquehanna finished with 12 shots, including five on goal.
  • The River Hawks held a 4-1 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Goalkeeper Katie Henchy made seven saves.
  • The draw moved Susquehanna to 8-3-2 overall and 1-1-2 in Landmark Conference play, while Drew moved to 4-2-5 and 2-0-2, respectively. 

Up Next for the River Hawks
  • Susquehanna returns to action Wednesday, October 14, hosting Juniata at 7 p.m.
  • They are then on the road for their next two league matchups, starting at Moravian on Saturday, Oct. 17 and at Catholic Wednesday, Oct. 21.
