LANCASTER, PA - Susquehanna baseball stormed back from a 9-1 deficit to take down the Diplomats of Franklin and Marshall College at Penn Medicine Park, 17-10. A seven-run fourth and a five-run fifth turned the tide for Susquehanna, improving their early season record to 9-3.
Susquehanna 17-Franklin and Marshall 10:
- Michael Girardi led off for the River Hawks, reaching first base on a errant pass. A Dylan Heyduk single up the middle scored the speedy Girardi from first base.Â
- Despite the early offense from River Hawks, the Diplomats answered right away, knocking in four runs in the bottom half of the first frame.
- F & M's offense was not finished after the first inning, as the Diplomats tacked on five runs in the second inning, jumping out to the early 9-1 lead.Â
- The fourth inning was all SU, as the visiting team added seven runs in the inning to cut the Diplomats lead to one run. Andrew Haussman started the inning off strong, sending a ball out of the park for a solo home run.
- Michael Girardi knocked a ball to left field, unloading the bases for three RBI's, cutting the lead down to three.
- A Paul Daly single to left field gave the River Hawks their seventh run of the contest, before Lucas Zachesky earned a walk to score the eighth run of the game.
- Susquehanna regained the lead in the fifth inning, scoring five runs to take a 13-8 lead over the Diplomats. Michael Gagliardi singled to left center, pushing Lincoln Hower and CJ Orrego across home plate to regain the lead for SU.
- Lucas Zachesky earned a double down the right field line, unloading the bases to finish the inning with the River Hawks leading 13-9.
- The Diplomats tacked on their final run of the contest in the sixth inning of play.
- The eighth inning once more belonged to the River Hawks. An error allowed Jaden Buechler to reach first base, scoring Paul Daly.Â
- CJ Orrego sent a sacrifice fly to right field, giving Lucas Zachesky the chance to cross home plate.
- Lincoln Hower earned the final RBI of the inning, sending a ball into play, scoring Jaden Buechler.
- A Paul Daly double to right center helped Susquehanna score their final run of the contest, pushing Gagliardi across home plate.

- Susquehanna connected for 15 hits during the contest, with Andrew Haussman sending a ball out of the park. Michael Gagliardi led all River Hawks in hits, knocking three balls into play.Â
- Caden Breault earned the start for SU, pitching 1.1 innings. Breault finished his day with one strikeout. Tommy Kowaliwskyj finished the contest pitching 2.0 innings, striking out three batters.
