YORK, PA - Susquehanna softball visited York College of Pa. for a Friday afternoon doubleheader. A close contest in game one ended on a Spartans walkoff in the bottom of the seventh as the hosts took a 3-2 victory. The River Hawks seemed to be in command in game two with a 6-1 lead, but the game was called after three innings due to rain, resulting in a no contest.
York 2-Susquehanna 3:
- The Spartans and River Hawks both led a defensive battle until the fourth inning, where York was able to capitalize, knocking in the first two runs of the game.
- The River Hawks capitalized in the sixth inning, knocking in two runs to even the game at two. Stevie Shaak reached first base off an error comitted by the Spartans pitcher, giving both Alyssa Mayorca and Grace Landis a chance to tie the game.
- York led off the bottom of the seventh with a double by Noelle Smith, who was replaced by pinch runner Devyn McFarland. After a sacrifice bunt brought her to third, Allison Hunsberger called game with a one-out, walkoff RBI single.
- Brooke Allen pitched the duration of the game for Susquehanna, striking out five and allowing just six hits with three earned runs.
