OWINGS MILLS, MD - Susquehanna Softball dropped both games of their non-conference doubleheader at Stevenson University Tuesday. The River Hawks dropped a high-scoring, eight-inning game one 11-10, followed by the Mustangs dominating in the nightcap with a 9-1 victory.
STEVENSON 11, SUSQUEHANNA 10
- Game one kicked off with Susquehanna scoring a run in the top of the second which came from Alyssa Mayorca scoring off Mary Wilkinson's pop fly. The Mustangs responded with four runs scored in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.
- The River Hawks would add a run in the third inning after Katelyn Dugery hit a RBI double to cut into the Stevenson lead. Susquehanna ended up taking the lead in the very next inning with Wilkinson hitting an RBI triple followed by Steevie Shaak's RBI single to tie the game at four runs.
- Stevenson took their lead right back in the bottom half of the fourth, until the bottom of the fifth where the River Hawks scored four runs to take a 8-5 lead.
- Kaylee Smallen scored on a bases-loaded walk for Wilkinson, followed by a two RBI double from Shaak. Sulesky finished it off for the River Hawks with a RBI single to give her team the advantage.
- Stevenson would answer back in a big way in the bottom half of the inning, with Shara Ward hitting a deep three run shot to right to tie the game at eight runs apiece.
- The tie would remain through the seventh inning, putting the game in extra innings. The River Hawks immediately scored in the top of the eighth where Shaak scored on a ground out from Maddy Devine. Sydney Perez would hit a RBI single to add pressure on the Mustangs and give her team a 10-8 lead.
- Ward, however, came back in the home eighth with more comeback heroics, scoring two on a game-tying triple.
- On the very next at bat Morsa walked it off with a walkoff single to score Ward .
STEVENSON 9, SUSQUEHANNA 1
- Brooke Allen took the circle to start game two for Susquehanna. She set the Mustangs down in order in the first, but it would be Stevenson's only scoreless inning.
- The home team got to work with three runs in the bottom of the second. Ava Stafursky led off with a double, eventually scoring on a throwing error. Sierra Williams and Caylee Cliett reached base to follow, with each scoring on groundouts for a 3-0 lead.
- Two more Mustangs runs followed in the third as Rebecca Maiorano reached base on an error that scored game-one hero Sahara Ward. Stafursky notched her second double of the contest to score Maiorano.
- The River Hawks got one back in the fourth when Stevie Shaak got Mary Wilkinson to score with the bases loaded thanks to a fielder's choice to cut the lead to 5-1.
- Stevenson got busy in the fourth with four runs on four hits. Their first three batters reached base, with two runs coming across due to a wild pitch and error.
- This prompted pitcher Piper Wright to take over after doing so in game one's marathon.
- The Mustangs carried on as Maiorino put the eight-run rule in motion with a two-RBI single to left to lead 9-1.
- Maddy Devine hoped to spark a fifth-inning rally for Susquehanna with a leadoff double, but Susquehanna's next three at-bats resulted in outs to end the contest.

- Susquehanna prepares to host Scranton this Saturday, April 25 in a Landmark series as part of Senior Day.
- The River Hawks then contend with Wilkes next Saturday, May 2 in their regular-season series finale.
