SELINSGROVE, PA - Susquehanna University is proud to once again induct a select group into the Football Ring of Honor during the River Hawks' regular season finale against Juniata College on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2026. The 2026 induction class features Hank Belcolle '84, Richard Derrick '61, Larry Kerstetter '61, Joe LoCastro '77, John Heim '94, and Erich Majors '10.
The Ring of Honor Induction Ceremony will take place prior to kickoff at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field at Doug Arthur Stadium, with the game starting at 12 noon. HANK BELCOLLE '84
Hank was a standout fullback and linebacker at Ramsey High School in New Jersey. "Hammerin' Hank", also known as "Hank the Tank", was a powerful, punishing runner and four-year starter at fullback at Susquehanna. Upon graduation he held the SU career rushing record with 2,176 yards (still 7th all time) and 550 carries (still 4th all-time) despite playing only 9 game seasons (36 games total). He led the 1983 team to a MAC title (8-0-1), where he was named ECAC Player of the Year, First Team All MAC running back and Division III NCAA Honorable Mention. Hank was inducted into the SU Sports Hall of Fame in 1993 and was named to Susquehanna's Top 100 All Century Football team in 1999.
After graduation from SU in 1984, Hank worked in banking for many years, including for the Bank of America for over 20 years and retired as a Vice President. Hank always enjoyed reconnecting with his SU teammates, coming back for games, golf outings, and other social events prior to his untimely passing in March 2023.
Hank is remembered as a great teammate and an even better person. After graduation from SU, Hank returned to the Ramsey, NJ area and was involved for many years as a coach in both the Ramsey Junior Football Association and the Ramsey Baseball Association. Hank enjoyed sharing his love of sports through coaching 7th and 8th graders, including his younger brother, Christopher. Many of these players went on to enjoy sports at the high school and college level.
RICHARD DERRICK '61
Richard served as Susquehanna's quarterback coming from Morristown High School, where he was coached by a fellow SU alum Rich Young who guided him to Susquehanna. He was a four-year letterman at quarterback and halfback, earning All-MAC Honorable Mention in 1959 despite a serious knee injury. He was co-captain of the 1960 team under head coach Jim Garrett, finishing with a 7-1 record and allowing just two touchdowns.
After graduating he earned his Dental degree at UPenn and served in the Navy before practicing General Dentistry for 44 years in New Jersey. Richard co-chaired the Coach Bob Pittello Tribute in 1999 which generated support to build the James Garrett Sports Complex. In 2000 he received SU's Prof. Russell Gilbert Award for service to his community and fellow man.
Richard's love for SU has been shown in countless ways over several decades, including support for Phi Mu Delta fraternity, numerous worthy causes including SU Football and he is a longstanding, very enthusiastic member of the Ring of Honor Committee. He considers it a labor of love to give back to SU, which has a special place in his heart, and the hearts of nine family members who are also SU graduates.
JOHN HEIM '94
John was a four-time varsity football letterman at Susquehanna and a standout defensive tackle, earning All-MAC and All-American honors. He served as captain of the 1994 squad during his senior year. John is a military veteran where he received specialized training through the Army Corps of Engineer in heavy equipment operation and road work.
John has dedicated more than 30 years to mentoring youth and supporting charitable organizations in the State College, PA area. While a student at SU, he began working in general contracting, ultimately building more than 20 years of experience in construction and real estate. He is a partner in numerous residential and commercial properties in Harrisburg and Central Pennsylvania and has been involved in oil exploration and drilling in eastern Texas. John currently serves on the Board of Directors for BlueSwarf tool, which enables users to determine the maximum achievable speeds, feeds and cutting depths for their existing machines, tools and applications. He was the co-founder and President of Tricore Group, LLC, a land development and construction management company in central PA.
John was a supporter of the Chris Vialonga Sports Performance Center and has quietly but strongly supported numerous Susquehanna fundraising initiatives benefiting student athletes. Since graduation, John has remained a strong advocate for Susquehanna's football program. He has participated in advisory interviews and mentored SU students, helping them explore opportunities after college.
LARRY KERSTETTER '64
Larry is a Selinsgrove product and belongs to both the Selinsgrove High School Hall of Fame and the Susquehanna University Athletics Hall of Fame. He was a team fixture at running back for head coach Jim Garrett during the team's historic period from 1960 to 1963, combining for a 32-1-3 record and a pair of undefeated seasons in 1961 and 1962. Larry left SU as the all-time scoring leader with 178 points, while gaining 2,101 yards with over 500 carries. In 1962 he earned Little All-American honors and was placed on the AP First Team All-State. He signed a contract with the New York Jets in 1964 and in 1999 was named to SU's Top 100 All Century team.
Larry taught mathematics at Shikellamy High School for 33 years and was assistant football coach for 10 years. He was involved in many activities over his career and gave back to his community in many ways. He was a member of the Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove PA, Shade Mountain Golf Club, the Rooster's Corner Sportsman's Club, and the Mid-Penn Sportsman's Club. He supported the on campus InterVarsity Fellowship for 15 years and had many students in his home for games and food. Larry referred many students to SU over his teaching career and attended many football games prior to his passing in 2011.
JOE LOCASTRO '77
Joe arrived to Susquehanna in 1974 after transferring from Drexel, becoming SU's starting middle linebacker and was elected captain of the 1974 and 1975 football teams. He led the team in tackles and was selected to the All-Lutheran team, among other accolades.
Joe graduated from Susquehanna in 1977 with a degree in Business Management. Professional and civic leadership included serving as president of the World Trade Association of Philadelphia from 1996-1998 and President of the Traffic Club of Philadelphia in 2006. He has been active in the Knights of Columbus, Cherry Hill Chapter 6173, since 1999. He currently serves as senior vice president of business development at Inland Express, Inc.
Joe has participated in SU football golf outings and stays engaged with fellow alumni and student-athletes through his professional and personal experiences. Despite the challenges of being a transfer, SU proved to be the ideal place for Joe to thrive, both athletically and academically. Joe's leadership abilities and exceptional play on field were an inspiration to his team and resulted in his being elected team captain his junior and senior years at SU.
ERICH MAJORS '10
Erich was a four-year letterman at defensive back and captain of Susquehanna's 2009 Liberty League Championship Team. That same year he led the team in tackles and earned First Team Liberty League Defense in 2009. He was also named to the D3Football.com All-East Region 3rd Team. Head Coach Steve Briggs called him, "pound-for-pound our best defensive player," a testament to Erich's leadership and work ethic. During his time at SU, he was active in several campus clubs and activities.
After graduating from Susquehanna, Erich stayed on as an assistant coach for the 2010 season, as well as volunteering at his alma mater Harrisburg High School. In 2011, Erich taught English in China to international students at The British School of Beijing. He enrolled as a graduate student at Penn State where he earned his master's degree in public administration in 2014. That same year he began serving as a Pennsylvania State Trooper. In 2016, he was honored with the Tom Carter Community Safety Award.
