SUFH Falls to Haverford 3-0

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Susquehanna University field hockey team battled Haverford College Wednesday evening but fell 3-0 to the Fords at Sassafras Field.

Haverford controlled possession throughout the contest, finishing with an 18-1 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in penalty corners. Susquehanna's defense kept the Fords off the scoreboard in the third quarter around the Fords scoring one goal each in the first, second, and fourth quarters. 

How It Went Down
  • Haverford opened the scoring with just under five minutes remaining in the first quarter when Lydia Moy found the back of the cage at the 10:22 mark. The Fords took a 1-0 advantage into the second quarter.
  • The River Hawks' defense settled in during the second and third quarters, keeping Haverford scoreless over the 30-minute stretch. Taytum Lombardi made four saves in the opening half before Kylie Schmidt took over in goal to begin the third quarter.
  • Susquehanna generated its best offensive opportunities in the third quarter, earning two penalty corners. Taylor Rothermel put the River Hawks' lone shot on goal at the 39:02 mark, but Haverford goalkeeper Lindsey Darby made the save.
  • Haverford added two goals in the fourth quarter, with Alice Stein scoring at 46:55 before Erica Pardon capped the scoring at 46:55. Pardon assisted on the second goal, which came off a penalty corner.
