ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Susquehanna University field hockey team battled the University of Rochester to a scoreless draw through nearly 58 minutes Saturday afternoon before the Yellow Jackets scored late on a penalty stroke to secure a 1-0 victory at Fauver Stadium.
How It Went Down
- The River Hawks and Yellow Jackets played a scoreless opening quarter, with both teams recording two shots. Rochester began to generate more offensive pressure in the second quarter, but Susquehanna goalkeeper Kylie Schmidt kept the game scoreless with three saves.
- Susquehanna continued to hold Rochester off the scoreboard through the third quarter, with Schmidt making another three saves. The River Hawks entered the final quarter still locked in a scoreless battle.
- Rochester finally broke through with just 2:36 remaining in regulation when Hannah Mehta converted a penalty stroke to give the Yellow Jackets a 1-0 advantage. Susquehanna was unable to find a quick equalizer in the closing minutes.
