SELINSGROVE, Pa. — The Susquehanna University women's soccer team faced an early deficit against Dickinson in a home non-conference Wednesday evening. A quick Red Devils goal occurred in the 11th minute, then Dickinson kept up the heat with another goal nearly a minute and a half later for a swift 2-0 lead. They eventually added a second-half goal for a 3-nil victory.
How It Went Down
- Dickinson opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Ava Prisco finished off an assist from Anna Bitsko to give the Red Devils a 1-0 lead.
- Just 88 seconds later, Dickinson doubled its advantage when an own goal put the Red Devils ahead 2-0. Prisco cross the ball from the left side in a busy box, which hit off defender Olivia St. Amand's foot and into the back of the net.
- Susquehanna looked to answer throughout the remainder of the opening half, with Ella Briggs and Ava Billmeyer each putting shots on goal that were saved by Dickinson goalkeeper Pico Gray. Katie Henchy also kept the River Hawks within striking distance, making four saves in the opening 45 minutes.
- The River Hawks came out with increased pressure in the second half. Billmeyer and Kim Dalessio each tested Gray early in the period, while Olivia St. Amand later struck the crossbar in the 63rd minute.
- Dickinson added an insurance goal in the 67th minute when Megan Lomotan finished off a pass from Joelle Ma, extending the lead to 3-0.
- Susquehanna continued to battle through the final 20-plus minutes, but Gray made two more saves to preserve the shutout.
