WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Susquehanna University men's soccer team played King's College to a 1-1 draw Wednesday evening at McCarthy Stadium, with both goals coming in the opening half as the River Hawks move to 2-6-1 on the year.
Susquehanna opened the scoring in the 18th minute when
Jack McCarthy found the back of the net for his first goal of the season.
Joe Holmwood provided the assist, running the length of the field and setting up McCarthy to give the River Hawks a 1-0 advantage.
King's answered in the 31st minute when Jackson Nuttall scored the equalizer, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
The second half featured opportunities at both ends of the field, but neither team was able to break through. Susquehanna generated 11 shots in the final 45 minutes, including four on goal, while
Finn Kramer recorded three saves to keep the Monarchs off the scoreboard.
The River Hawks finished the night with a 16-15 edge in shots and held a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks. King's goalkeeper Ben Van Valkenburg made five saves to preserve the draw.
