CARLISLE, PA - The Susquehanna University men's golf team opened its fall season at the Dickinson College Fall Invitational on Sunday, competing in a stacked 26-team, two-day field. The River Hawks' A team finished 15th overall with a two-day score of +28, led by
Rider Nicholl, who tied for 22nd individually at +1 after firing a five-under-par 67 in the final round. The B team placed 19th with a +37 team score, paced by first-year
Zach Raihall, who tied for 44th at +5 in his collegiate debut.
Susquehanna entered the fall with a mix of experienced returners and new talent, welcoming three first-years in
Dylan Mattessich,
Zach Raihall, and
Austin Solomon. The River Hawks are led by a strong sophomore class featuring
Rider Nicholl,
Jax Puskar,
Zach Shragher,
Marc Twombly, and
Jonny Zadravec. Junior
Chase Maggs and seniors
David Birmingham and Eli Mamau round out the experienced group for Susquehanna.
RIVER HAWKS ON THE COURSE:
- T22. Rider Nicholl – 78-67 (+1) - Nicholl led the River Hawks, opening with a 78 before making an impressive 11-stroke improvement on day two. He fired a five-under-par 67 in the final round, highlighted by five birdies.
- T58. Jax Puskar – 78-73 (+7) - Puskar carded one birdie and 11 pars in his opening round before improving five strokes on day two with three birdies and 12 pars to shoot a 73.
- T82. Marc Twombly – 80-75 (+11) - Twombly recorded two birdies and eight pars on day one before shaving five strokes off his score in the second round. He finished day two with three birdies and 12 pars for a 75.
- T91. Dylan Mattessich – 82-74 (+12) - Mattessich made his collegiate debut with ten pars in the opening round. He bounced back with an eight-stroke improvement on day two, firing a 74 behind four birdies and seven pars.
- T99. Jonny Zadravec – 79-78 (+13) - Zadravec opened the tournament with one birdie and 11 pars for a 79. He followed with a 78 in the final round, collecting four birdies and eight pars.
B TEAM
- T44. Zach Raihall – 75-74 (+5) - Raihall led the River Hawks' B team in his collegiate debut, opening with a 75 behind an eagle, two birdies, and eight pars. He improved by one stroke on day two, recording two birdies and 12 pars for a 74.
- T75. Zach Shragher – 78-76 (+10) - Shragher tallied two birdies and nine pars in the opening round. He improved by two strokes on day two, recording three birdies and ten pars en route to a 76.
- T99. Chase Maggs – 84-73 (+13) - Maggs recorded ten pars in the opening round before bouncing back with an 11-stroke improvement on day two. He fired a 73 with three birdies and 11 pars.
- T105. Austin Solomon – 74-84 (+14) - Solomon opened his collegiate career with a two-over-par 74 in the first round. He followed with an 84 on day two, recording two birdies and ten pars.
- T119. Eli Mamau – 83-80 (+19) - Mamau carded one birdie and nine pars in the opening round before improving by three strokes on day two. He recorded two birdies and seven pars to finish the final round with an 80.
