SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna University cross country standouts Derick Blair and Allison Sponseller swept the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week honors following standout performances at Saturday's Lebanon Valley Dutchmen XC Invite. Blair was selected as the Landmark Conference Men's Cross Country Athlete of the Week, while Sponseller earned Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.

Blair opened his junior season in impressive fashion, winning the men's 8K race at Union Canal Tunnel Park with a time of 25:45.4. He finished more than 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up and helped lead the River Hawks to a second-place team finish with 72 points.

Sponseller also turned in a top-10 performance, finishing 10th overall in the women's 5K with a time of 19:49.0. The senior led all Susquehanna runners as the River Hawks finished fourth as a team with 102 points.

The performances marked an impressive start to the season for both River Hawks, with Blair capturing the individual men's title and Sponseller pacing the Susquehanna women against a competitive field.

Susquehanna returns to action later this month at DeSales University on Saturday, Sept. 19.
