Susquehanna University women's lacrosse head coach
Randall Swope announced the addition of
Emerson Foster to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2023 campaign.
"I am excited to welcome Emerson to the coaching staff, and have been very impressed with her this fall," said Swope. "Emerson started with us in mid-September and so far those leadership skills that were developed as an undergrad have benefited our student-athletes greatly. As a captain and starting midfielder at Roanoke, she helped to lead the team to the second round of the NCAA tournament and one of the best performances that program has ever seen, so I'm looking forward to her sharing these experiences as she will help work primarily with our draw group and defenders."
Foster comes to Susquehanna after a very successful career as a women's lacrosse athlete at Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia. As part of the team, she served as team captain in 2021 and 2022, while earning All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors in 2019, 2021 and 2022. She was named to the All-IWLCA All-Region squad three seasons, while picking up All-VaSID accolades in 2019, 2021 and 2022 as well. She helped lead the Maroons to the ODAC Finals in 2021 and 2022, while helping Roanoke to its first NCAA appearance since 2009 in the 2022 season.
In addition to her playing career, Foster has helped with the Roanoke squad as a student assistant as she helped coordinate recruiting calls, managed the team social media, provided academic support to team student-athletes and assisted with strength and conditioning efforts. Foster also has helped out as a coach at The Goalie School in the summers of 2019, 2021 and 2022 as she has coached middle school and high school-aged girls on goalie techniques, positioning and footwork.
Foster earned her B.S. in health and exercise science in the spring of 2022 from Roanoke College, and is originally from Ballston Spa, NY.
"I am excited to start my lacrosse coaching career at Susquehanna and learn from a great program and staff," said Foster. "I look forward to getting to know the players and share my knowledge, skills, experience, and passion for the sport."
