Caitlin Kelly won the 1000-yard freestyle,
Katie Willis won the 50-yard freestyle,
Olivia Fravel topped the 200-yard breaststroke and
Maggie Palaski won the 100-yard butterfly as the Susquehanna University Women's Swimming and Diving team defeated Drew University 170-126 and Marywood University 214.5-81.5 Saturday afternoon in Madison, New Jersey.
Kelly finished the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:10.96, edging out Drew's closest swimmer by over 17 seconds.
Willis finished the 50-yard freestyle in 25.08 seconds, narrowly beating Drew by .48 seconds. Kate Welch and Fravel came in 3
rd and 4
th place respectively in the event.
Fravel finished the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:34.12 on her way to being the top finisher in that event. Palaski completed the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.16.
Palaski, Fravel, Willis and Kelly dominated the 200-yard freestyle, defeating Drew by almost 10 seconds, finishing in 3:48.91.
Willis and Abigail Condon finished in second and third place respectively in the 200-yard freestyle while
Megan Shaffer and
Tori Weems also came in second and third place in the 100-yard backstroke.
Brooke Boes, Tata Caucino and
Shannon McGoey all turned in solid finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing within 1.14 seconds of one another.
The River Hawks look to return to winning ways Saturday when the team takes on Gettysburg for a meet at 1 p.m.
