River Hawks Fall to York Despite Valiant Effort

The River Hawks faced off against York College on Saturday, October 23rd in Sunbury in a DVCHC (Delaware Valley Collegiate Hockey Conference) matchup.   The River Hawks found themselves down near the halfway mark before fighting back to tie it at 3-3 and later 4-4 after falling behind once again by a goal.

A short bench would force the River Hawks to rely heavily on their defensive zone play, which was back-stopped by outstanding saves by their netminder.   Nick Manning made several outstanding saves for the River Hawks.

Weary legs and an early third period penalty would spell trouble in the period, as York would capitalize with an early power play goal and add 3 more goals in the third to go on to an 8-4 win.   It was a very competitive game throughout and the first meeting between the two programs since York had entered collegiate CHF competition within the last few years.

Goals and assists for the River Hawks (G/A) as follows:  Griffin Erdley (2/1), Chris Ciccarello (2/1), AJ Sferlazzq (0/1), Liam Hartman (0/1), Parker Baumann (0/1)

Nick Manning had 60 saves in net for the River Hawks on 68 shots.

The River Hawks are 1-1 on the season. The River Hawks face Bucknell on Sunday, October 24th in Sunbury.
