Women's Swimming and Diving Falls to Drew; Romano Sets School Record in Diving

SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna's Women's Swimming and Diving Team fell to the Drew Rangers by a final score of 185-92 in the team's first official meet of the 2021-2022 season. This snaps a winning streak of four meets by Susquehanna against Drew, as they had won the last four meets dating back to 2016. 

Julia Romano began the meet with an outstanding performance in diving, as she compiled a score of 225.95, breaking Krista White's school record of 216.10 for 1-Meter Diving (6 Dives). 

Larisa Calvo was the second place finisher in the 1000-Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:43.86 in the opening individual race. She also posted a second place finish in the 500-Yard Freestyle, as the senior finished with a time of 5:48.30. 

Ashley Derrick had an exciting race in her 100-Yard Backstroke heat, finishing second with a time of 1:03.64.

Shannon McGoey finished second in her 100-Yard Breaststroke Heat, as McGoey finished with a time of 1:12.76, less than a second behind the first place finisher.

Sabrina Krotzer posted the second best time in the 200-Yard Butterfly, notching a time of 2:23.87. In the 100-Yard Butterfly, she was once again the second place finisher, registering a time of 1:03.86. 

Kate Cipoletti had an outstanding finish in her 50-Yard Freestyle Heat, concluding her race with a time of 25:97, which ended as the second best time. Cipoletti also registered a third place finish in the 200-Yard Backstroke, ending with  time of 2:18.49. 

Mia Doll narrowly lost in the 200-Yard Individual Medley, as she posted a time of 2:22.42, just behind the time of 2:22.38.

In relays, Susquehanna took second place in the opening race, as the team of Cipoletti, McGoey,  Krotzer, and Amy Segond finished with three seconds of the top time at 1:54.94. The group of Cipoletti, Peifer, Megan Iannacone and Krotzer were also the second place finishers in the final relay. The relay team finished the 400-Yard Freestyle with a time of 3:54.67.

  • The Women's Swimming and Diving Team will travel to Gettysburg, PA on December 3rd and 4th for a two-day meet against Gettysburg College. Start times are 3 p.m. and 10 a.m., respectively.
