WILLIAMSPORT, PA (November 12, 2022) -- Senior Kallan Carter earned her second career NCAA Championships Saturday afternoon, finishing ninth overall at the 2022 NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Susquehanna at the West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, PA.
Carter got out to a great start on Saturday, as she was in second place after the first mile, trailing just University of Scranton senior Jessica Hoffmann. Carter held her position through the 3100m marker, as she crossed the 3.1K line at 11:31.4.
A group of Johns Hopkins runners came up strong on Carter through the midway part of the race, but Carter held them off staying in second until the 5K mark when some other runners pushed Carter back to 10th place. The senior would battle back up one spot to earn an automatic spot into the NCAA Championships after running a 22:23.9.
Sophomore Emma Myers would come in next for the River Hawks, as she was 50th overall after posting a new personal-best time of 23:31.5. First-year Griane Reed was Susquehanna's third finisher across the line, as Reed ran a 23:36.7 for 88th place. Fellow newcomer Kylie Reed was 110th overall with a lifetime best time of 25:18.7, while sophomore Rebekah Jones rounded out the scoring for SU with a 23:37.9 for 117th place.
Sophomore Jordan Bender crossed the finish line in 133rd place with a 26:05.0, and senior Meghan McDonald was SU's final finisher with a time of 26:14.4 for 143rd place, racing to a new personal record. Susquehanna was 12th as a squad, finishing with 363 points.
Johns Hopkins won the team title with 40 points, while Carnegie Mellon was second with 112 points. Alex Ross of JHU earned the individual medal with a time of 21:42.8.
Carter will compete next weekend in Lansing, Michigan at Forest Akers Cross Country track November 19.
