BALTIMORE, MD (September 1, 2022) -- Senior harrier Kallan Carter posted the third-best time in program history over a 5K course Thursday afternoon, as the River Hawk women's cross country team started the fall campaign with a fourth-place finish at the Baltimore Metro Meet. The meet was run on the campus of Goucher College. 

Carter finished 12th overall in a field of 108 runners, as she posted a personal-best time of 19:11.4 to lead the way for the River Hawks. Sophomore Jordan Bender was second to cross the finish line for Susquehanna Thursday, recording a personal-best time of 20:41.8 for 34th place overall. SU had two runners right behind Bender in 38th and 39th place, respectively, as Emma Myers recorded a time of 21:00.3 while Griane Reed was 39th with a time of 21:21.4. 

Sophomore Rebekah Jones finished the scoring for the River Hawks with a time of 21:22.3, and newcomer Kylie Dixon was sixth in for Susquehanna after placing 42nd overall with a time of 21:30.5. First-year Grace Evans was seventh among River Hawk runners and 54th overall with a time of 22:55.3, and sophomore Sydney Mitros tallied a new personal best over 5000 meters with a time of 22:59.7 for 56th place. 

First-year Katrina Hook was 65th overall with a time of 23:37.1, senior Meghan McDonald took 70th overall with a time of 24:02.7 and sophomore Sophia Pasquariello posted a time of 24.52.0. The River Hawks finished fourth as a team, as Johns Hopkins University won the race with a score of 32 points. The University of Maryland was second with 32 points, while Elizabethtown College took third with 103 points, edging SU and its 105 points.

• The River Hawk women's squad will return to training for the next three weeks before getting back to competititon on September 24 at the Lock Haven Invitational at West Branch Cross Country Course in Lock Haven, PA.
