Perkovich Honored at Maxwell Football Club Gala

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (March 20, 2023) – The Maxwell Football Club officially honored Susquehanna University Head Coach Tom Perkovich as the winner of the Club's 25th Andy Talley Regional Coach of the Year Award at the 86th National Awards Gala on March 10, held at the Mohegan Philadelphia. He was presented the honor by the award's namesake, longtime Villanova head football coach Andy Talley. 

The award, in its 25th year of existence, is presented to the top prep or college coach in the Northeast region. In his seventh season leading the River Hawks, Perkovich led Susquehanna to a 10-1 record and won their first Centennial Conference championship. The River Hawks claimed decisive wins over Dickinson, Gettysburg, Lycoming and Moravian, and exhilarating nail-biters over Johns Hopkins and Muhlenberg, leading up to their first appearance in the NCAA DIII Football Championships since 2009. They concluded the 2022 campaign ranked No. 19 in the final NCAA Division III national poll. The River Hawks enter a new era in 2023, entering the Landmark Conference for the league's first football season.

Perkovich finished the 2022 season with a career-record of 51-19 over this seven seasons at the helm of the River Hawks. He has won eight or more games the past five seasons, including 10 or more two of the last three campaigns. Perkovich ranks 14th in NCAA Division III among current head coaches in winning percentage at .729, as he and his staff were honored as the 2022 Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

Perkovich was recognized alongside a distinguished list of honorees that included: Sean Clifford – Penn State (Brian Westbrook Regional Player of the Year), Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles (Bert Bell Award), Nick Sirianni – Philadelphia Eagles (Greasy Neale Coach of the Year Award), Joe Klecko (Legends Award presented by Mohegan Pennsylvania), Caleb Williams – USC (Maxwell Award), Will Anderson Jr. – Alabama (Chuck Bednarik Award), Drake Maye –North Carolina (Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year Award), and Willie Fritz –Tulane University (George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award).
