SELINSGROVE, PA – Susquehanna Football Head Coach Tom Perkovich has announced new assistant coaches Dante Waugh and Todd Tilford to round out his coaching staff for the 2023 season. Waugh, a former NCAA Division II student-athlete, comes over as the River Hawks' Cornerback Coach. Local high school coaching figure Tilford joins the Susquehanna coaching staff as the Running Backs Coach.

About Dante Waugh
"Coach D-Waugh" joins the college coaching ranks after coming off two seasons as an assistant coach at Winslow Township High School in his home state of New Jersey. He played his first two years of college football as a wide receiver at Alderson Broaddus University during the 2017 and 2018 seasons before transferring to fellow NCAA Division II Bowie State. He went on to earn his Bachelor's from Rowan University in Sports Communication with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising.

Waugh played both sides of the ball at Timber Creek High School in his hometown of Erial, NJ. His accolades included All-Conference Offensive First Team (2014, 2015 and 2016), All-Conference Defensive First Team (2015 and 2016), First Team All-South Jersey Defense (2016), All-Group District Defensive Second Team (2016), All-Group Offensive Second Team (2014, 2015), and member of New Jersey State Football Championship Team (2016).

About Todd Tilford
Over the last decade and change, Tilford made his name in 570 high school football with successful head coaching runs at Lewisburg High School (2006-11) and Shikellamy High School (2012-19).

Tilford served on the Lewisburg coaching staff as an assistant coach for 15 years before stepping into the head coaching role. Upon taking over the program, the Green Dragons totaled just ten wins from 2001-07. Tilford parlayed a five-win turnaround in 2008 into 44 combined victories over four seasons, including nine playoff wins. He was twice named the Sun-Gazette Coach of the Year and captured a CSC-II Championship in 2010 where he was named the Pennsylvania "AA" Coach of the Year. Tilford served as a teacher at LHS and also coached golf and softball.

Tilford moved on to his alma mater Shikellamy High School in 2012, charting another indelible run with the Braves that apexed with a 2017 HAC-I championship and reaching the district final that year to post a 9-3 record. His teams won five or more games six times in eight years.

Following the 2019 season Tilford stepped away to watch his two sons play in college. His oldest son, Gabe, played linebacker at Bloomsburg University, while son Lucas competed in track at Case Western Reserve. A father of four with his wife Krista, he is a graduate of Shippensburg University where he played football.
