BALTIMORE, MD (January 13, 2024) - The Susquehanna University women's swimming team defeated both their Landmark Conference rivals the Moravian University Greyhounds and Goucher College Gophers by scores of 149-55 and 156-61 Saturday afternoon.
Susquehanna made a statement early by taking the top two spots in the opening event, the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The winning team consisted of Ashley Derrick, Mackenzie Moran, Madison Milheim, and Peyton Kenney who finished with a time of 2:00.85, and right behind them was the team of Leah Tessarvich, Morgan Thomas Maddie Lebkicker, and Emma Church who finished with a 2:03.08 time.
Many had strong individual performances as well starting with Derrick who won the 50 Yard Backstroke (28.72) and finished second in the 50 Yard Breaststroke. Tessarvich won both the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:09.46) and the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:04.31). Senior Mia Doll also took first place in the 50 and 100 Yard Breaststroke with times of 33.72 and 1:14.61, respectively.
Other top performances came from Catherine Sirignano in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, Amy Segond in the 100 Yard Butterfly, Church in the 100 Yard Freestyle, and Gianna Rossi in the 500 Yard Freestyle.
Milheim and Segond also earned personal records on a day, with Milheim doing so in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 6:06.36, and Segond in the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:16.82.
Susquehanna will stay on the road for their next meet against the University of Scranton Royals on Saturday Jan. 20 with a start time of 1 p.m.
