SELINSGROVE, PA (January 27, 2024) – The Susquehanna women's swimming team had plenty to celebrate on Saturday afternoon, taking part in Senior Day ceremonies and also earning a win against Lebanon Valley College, 166-63.
There were plenty of wins to go around for the River Hawks as they dominated the day from start to finish. The relay team of Ashley Derrick, Mia Doll, Amy Segond, and Emma Church started the day with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, clocking in at 1:53.57. Church added an individual win to the tally in the 200 Free, while Doll took gold in the 100 Fly and 100 Breaststroke. Derrick was first in the 100 Backstroke, while Segond was first in the 50 Fly.
Senior Leah Tessarvich joined in the fun and marked the occasion with victory in the 50 Backstroke. She would also take second place in the 100 Free.
Head coach Rachel Drosdick-Sigafoos offered her thoughts after the win, saying "This senior class has created a culture of 'we can and we will,' and that was on full display today. These women have guided a very young team by exemplifying work ethic, faith in the process, and encouragement."
The team will now look toward the Landmark Conference Championships in the coming weeks as a chance to cap off their season with more victories. The meet will take place at the Mangione Pool at Loyola (MD), beginning on Thursday, February 15.
