#8 Football Looks to Retain Goal Post Trophy in Homecoming Game vs. Juniata

SELINSGROVE, PA - The eighth-ranked Susquehanna University football team (5-1, 2-0 Landmark) celebrates Homecoming this Saturday as they open another chapter in the storied rivalry with Juniata (1-4, 0-1 Landmark) for a 1 p.m. kickoff. The high-flying River Hawks moved into the eighth spot nationally between both the D3football.com Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll, rising up one spot in the latter. The program entered the record books after last Saturday's 79-6 Landmark battle with Keystone, opening up 676 yards of total offense, second-most all time and most since 2003, while recording the most points scored in a regular season game since 1919. Josh Ehrlich received the Landmark's Offensive Athlete of the Week, needing just 11 passing attempts to break the game open, completing all of them for 203 yards and four touchdown passes, each to different targets. Kyle Howes, Chris Bookter, Rowen Hershey, and Michael Robbins accounted for those scoring recipients. Rookie phenom Rahshan La Mons was accorded Landmark Special Teams Athlete of the Week after taking a pair of 70+-yard punt returns for touchdowns that covered 145 yards.

The defense also found ways to score on Saturday, with Jesse Ruisch returning an interception for a 22-yard touchdown in the first quarter, while fellow linebacker Josh Parson logged one interception and one sack. Howes caught five passes for 103 yards, with his touchdown opening up the scoring on a 35-yard reception on SU's first drive. The senior receiver continues to move up the career record boards as he ranks third all-time with 160 receptions, 2,237 receiving yards, and 26 touchdown catches. Ehrlich, in just his second season as the team's starting quarterback, is leaning into the record board as well, surpassing 3,000 career passing yards with 3,085 for 11th all-time and seventh all-time with 31 passing touchdowns. On the other side of the ball lineman Jake Schultes is fith with 12 sacks and linebacker Garrett Carter sixth with 11.

Through the early part of the Landmark campaign, Susquehanna, Wilkes, and Moravian each carry 2-0 conference records, with the River Hawks set to cross paths with them the next two weeks. They head to Wilkes-Barre to face the Colonials on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 12 p.m., then hosting the Greyhounds Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. as part of Senior Day.
