Women's Basketball Trio Earns All-Landmark Honors

TOWSON, MD (February 27, 2024) – The Landmark Conference announced their all-conference selections and award winners for women's basketball on Tuesday, with Susquehanna earning three All-Landmark selections after a season which saw them earn the fourth seed, make their first postseason appearance since 2016, and win their first ever Landmark Tournament game. Sophomore Julia Roth was named to the First Team, while Kaitlyn Lynch earned her second career selection, being named to the Second Team. Julia Pinckert was named an All-Landmark Honorable Mention to round out the group.

Roth had a breakout campaign in her second season, her first full year after missing time due to injury to start last season. Emerging as the team's leading scorer and a consistent double-double threat, she averaged 14.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game, leading the team in both metrics and ranking third and second in the Landmark, respectively. She led the conference in field goal percentage, the only qualifying shooter above 50 percent from the floor as she put up a 50.5 percentage on the season. After struggling from the foul line in her first season, she achieved massive improvement this season, leading the team with 93 makes and shooting 73.8 percent, an improvement of over 30 percentage points. Evidence of her impressive all-around game, Roth also finished second on the team in assists, putting up 2.7 per game as a post player and trailing only conference leader Pinckert for the team lead. Also a savvy defender, she led the River Hawks in steals with 79, also good for third in the Landmark and more than 20 ahead of the next closest player.

Earning All-Landmark Second Team honors for the second-straight season, Lynch concluded her River Hawk playing career with another impressive campaign laden with milestones. A consistently potent scorer, she averaged 13.1 points per game, second on the team and fifth in the Landmark. She would also join the 1,000-Point Club on the final day of the regular season, dropping 22 points at Drew to reach 1,000 in her career. She finishes with 1,024 total points and a career average of 10.6 points per game. Helping provide veteran leadership to a young team, she registered career highs in free throws made (82), assists (39), and blocks (25), finishing third in the Landmark in free throw percentage at 78.1 and seventh in blocks. Lynch also finishes her career with more than 100 made three-pointers, one of only five River Hawks to accomplish the feat.

The driving force behind the River Hawk offense that averaged 66.1 points per game, a more than ten-point jump from last season, the sophomore Pinckert took a big leap in playmaking and efficiency in her second season running the point. As previously mentioned, she led the conference in assists at 3.6 per game, doing so at a more efficient rate than last season as she had more than 20 fewer turnovers than her first season. Her 1.3 assist/turnover ratio ranked third in the Landmark, while she also improved her shooting numbers across the board, jumping 4.5 percent from the floor, 4.6 percent from three, and 2.0 percent from the foul line. Her 84.1 percent mark from the foul line led the team.
